"To the stars who listen—

"and the dreams that are answered."

—————————— ✦ ⋆ ✦ ——————————

She is Mother of all and Mother of none.

Many believe the Velarion religion derived from stories told, tales and myths uttered to soothe and ignite the minds of the youth. To inspire the broken, provide purpose to the lost, and ensure salvation when it seemed the world was crumbling–piece by piece falling out from beneath strong feet. There was never any question, never any qualm, simply a community of broken people coming together to believe in something when all they had was nothing. The true religion, the true constellations they seek in the sky, are simply men and women–Velarion wolves who have won their place alongside the Star Mother. Those who have proven their worth, their capabilities, their heart. Broken in their death and now perfect within the sky. Those of Velaris look to them for guidance, for answers, for a reason to embark further. Some devote their entire lives–entire heart–to the sky. Some struggle beneath the weight of its reputation, but most are simply passer-byers–those who seek the Mother when it is convenient. The Star Mother, whether faces turn toward her or not, is a beacon. She is seen as all-knowing, the first Velarion to walk the earth, to guide and protect. The constellations that settle alongside her, with names for each, are turned to for different, more trivial things. She is not a merely Goddess or being made for only the faithful or wholey devoted. She is something older, something that exists whether believed in or not. A creator of starlight, and both quiet and loud sparks that live within each and every being. She watches not only those who kneel, but those who turn their backs from Her, those who wander, those who forget. No Velarion is ever truly beyond her reach, not even the ones who would swear they have severed themselves from her light and no longer seek guidance. The sky does not choose who it holds. The stars and moon are their witnesses–silent, unblinking things that follow each step, each sin, each mercy, each journey traveled. There is no den deep enough, no forest thick enough to outrun the night and it is there, beneath that endless dark pricked with light, that truth is laid bare for Her to see. Not in the day, where things can hide behind warmth and blinding, false light but in the quiet stretch of starlight, where a soul has nothing left to pretend with.It is said that the Star Mother does not judge in the way mortals do, for she does not need to. The sky remembers. She remembers every son and daughter, every warrior, every poet, every healer. And when a Velarion finally lifts their gaze, they will find themselves reflected there. Not as they wished to be, but as they are.

HER STORY.

—————— ✦ ——————

—————— ✦ ——————

thebeginning

Long before Velaris rose to be what it is now, the world was ruled by tyrants who lacked vision and mercy. Greed hollowed hearts from within, rivers ran dry, forests withered, and the sky itself was said to dim dark and darker beneath the weight of endless cruelty. The land starved, and so did its people.Never did the sky glimmer with starlight, for it did not exist yet.It is said the world did not begin dying all at once, but slowly. Too slowly. Piece by piece, mercy fading from mortal hearts until there was little left but suffering, rage and pain. Many prayed for salvation. Many began to turn on another, livelihoods ruined. Families torn apart. Nature polluted and degraded.Until Her.Some claim the Star Mother was born mortal, one among many Velarion women who survived the breaking of the world. Others insist she was something far older, a sleeping thing finally stirred awake by the cries of the dying earth and souls calling for help. Regardless of truth, all stories agree on one thing: she came when the world needed her most, and she was what saved them all.

—————— ✦ ——————

—————— ✦ ——————

THEMIDDLE

When it finally came time, The Star Mother did not stand alone. Beside her rose the Valkyries, and those willing to stand, and together they crossed battlefields soaked in blood and ruin, fighting beneath dark skies said to have begun to crack.During the darkest days (and all days where dark, then) of the war, famine nearly claimed them all. Punished and left to starve beneath tyrants devoted to ruin, it was then that the Great Stag emerged from the forest in a coat of pure white and bowed before the Star Mother, offering himself so her people might survive. From this sacrifice came the first sacred hunt and the promise between predator and prey, and it was that offering which gave them the strength to continue. And high above them soared the great celestial falcon said to carry storms upon his wings. Whhen she looked freely upon the heavens, his call back to her could be heard across the land. Thunder answered, and rain fell for the Star Mother. However, victory demanded sacrifice. In the final battle, the Star Mother herself was struck down. It's said the entire world shook, and everyone felt her pain. Some claim the blow split not only her flesh, but the sky itself, forever changed. A scar stretched across her face like a wound carved through the universe, filled thereafter with living starlight. Her eyes became windows into the universe, and upon her brow burned a glowing diamond said to contain the first spark of true creation. Once purely made of black, her back bloomed with flecks of stars, blessings scattered across her skin like fragments of the night sky.She did not die. She became something more. Something greater. The Valkyries who perished beside her during the end ascended into different constellations, their names written forever among the heavens so they would never again be forgotten by any mortal.

—————— ✦ ——————

—————— ✦ ——————

THEEND

It is said, she did not leave immediately. She cared for the fallen, kissed the wounds of the broken and cared for the youth lost. She traveled across the land, and where she walked, life followed. The skies opened when she lifted her gaze toward the heavens. Rain fell upon starving soil. Rivers surged from their graves of stone. Flowers bloomed in the wake of perfect pawprints, pale silver and glowing beneath the moonlight. Beasts, once driven mad by famine—and so unlike the ones that once corrupted her land--laid themselves quietly at her feet as though recognizing something sacred within her. It is said she wept when she had saw what the world had become. And it was from those tears, that the first stars were born. Not the cold and distant stars some mortals might know now, but living lights—spirits of guidance placed within the heavens to watch over the broken world below. She gathered the lost, the abandoned, the hunted and forgotten, and led them north beneath those celestial fires to the place that would one day become Velaris. Not a kingdom forged by conquest. A home. A place where art mattered as much as strength. Where mercy was not weakness. Where the land was tended to as kin rather than exploited for power. She taught them that survival without compassion was no survival at all, and that cruelty was merely an infectious sickness that could blacken even the purest of hearts. She taught them to keep watch, to stay alert, and to mind their hearts against a world that would cost them troubles and mercies.

THEABYSS

wiphe was said to be a bad creature. soulless and cruel but she knew better and always saw his true face. im thinking when she fell in that final battle, he couldn't get to her but he felt her die and her living soul fracture, and his entire world collapsed and he too shattered with her. she felt this, felt him begin to leave her, and pulled him toward her with everything she had and he was turned into this.his star burns only for her.
he is the reason for mating bonds and soul ties, so no wolf is ever left alone.

"Muña Muña "
common lullaby

“Hush now, my little starlight, hush,
She will guard what you can’t keep,
If the dark should call your name,
I will burn and stay the same.
Teeth of big brave wolf and wing of sky,
Nothing can take what I call mine,
Blood and breath, I mark her true,
Let the wild remember you, starbright.
Little fox with quick silver feet,
Stole the sun for something sweet,
Hide it well beneath your tongue,
She will guard what you can’t keep.If I fade before you wake,
Follow not the path I take,
Grow where I could never stay,
Be the dawn I gave away.”

"TITLE"
common lullaby

Astraea… vaelora…
light that fell and did not fade
We carry you in silent flame
in bone, in breath, in blood unmade
Thalen holds what you have sown
root and fang and beating chest
If you are distant—let us be
the warmth that keeps each other blessed
Astraea… do not answer—
we will not break beneath your quiet
For where your starlight does not reach
we become it.

It is a shared duty among all members to walk beside the children of Velaris, filling their ears with tales of legend, history, and the futures waiting just beyond reach so the spirit may never fade.

Courtship is welcomed and common; marriage is sacred and always ceremonial, respected by all.
Mating bonds last lifetimes, and may at times transcend or overstep even marriage itself. (see lore)

Birds are honored as extensions of the sky itself. Many Velarions bond with them, keeping them as companions or seeking them out for comfort and play.

Beauty and adornment are deeply valued within Velaris. Flowers, feathers, and scented oils woven into fur are common sights throughout the court. Antlers, talons, quills and feathers are also commonly worn. Dens are also decorated with pelts, flowers, stones, and feathers. This is not viewed as vanity, but merely custom.

The Heart of Velaris is not shared freely with outsiders. While certain parts of their lands may be seen and traveled and shared, the true heart of their home remains carefully guarded and hidden, protected from those who would seek to corrupt or destroy it.

—————— ✦ ——————

Children of Velaris begin learning the ways of the mountain from a very young age. They are taught to navigate steep stone paths, how to hunt upon stone ridges, to know where each paw should fall, and to never lose their footing among the cliffs that cradle their home.

Velaris is regarded as a refuge first and foremost. A sanctuary for the lost, weary, grieving, and forgotten. Those fleeing cruelty, hardship, or ruin or fresh start are welcomed beneath its mountains, so long as they come with honest intentions and respect for the court and its people.

—————— ✦ ——————

During lasting times of grief or pain, Velarions often sleep beneath open skies whenever possible so the stars may “find” the hurting soul more easily. However, though rare, some avoid, ashamed to share their feelings so easily with Her.

All trade and craftsmanship are welcomed within Velaris, especially when it brings new knowledge, artistry, music, stories, or resources that may benefit the court as a whole. Fairness and respect are expected and greed for greed’s sake is looked upon very poorly.

Each rank serves a purpose, a star in its own right, together forming the constellation of Velaris.

  AstravarSovereign "High lord"

RULER OF VELARIS ✦ Both the protector and leader of every star within the ranks of Velaris. His voice is reason and law. The Astravar is not the greatest wolf of the Velarion. He is the one who cannot step away. Where others may retreat into their roles—the healer into mending, the elder into memory, the hunter into motion: The Astravar must remain present in all things.

  QēlosdāriaHIGH LADY

LIGHT BEARER OF VELARIS ✦ The Astravar consort. She is calm amongst the fold of Velaris. The Qēlosdāria is not simply a mate to the Astravar. She is the counterbalance to him—the force that ensures the pack is not led by direction alone, but by connection. Where the Astravar stands at the center—it is she who moves through everything. Chosen not for beauty, lineage, or even bond alone, but for her ability to feel the pack as a whole and keep it from fracturing.

  Vael'runnCircle Elders

THE MEMORY OF VELARIS ✦ The Vael-Ruun are what remains when time has stripped away excess—what is left when Spark has burned, Root has deepened, and nothing more needs proving. They are not leaders in the way the Astravar is. They do not direct the pack, but anchor it. They are the place where decisions settle. The Vael’Ruun are never singular. They exist as a circle—always more than one, never too many. No single elder holds full authority. Their strength lies in agreement, or in the weight of shared silence.

  Syltharaesky readers

SPIRITUAL INTERPRETERS ✦ The Syltharae should not be assumed as distant mystics or unquestioned prophets. They are interpreters of pattern, keepers of quiet noticing—wolves who have learned to read what others overlook, whether it comes from the stars… or from the pack itself. The Syltharae are the watchers of the Velarion—not above, not apart, but slightly…angled from the rest. Where most wolves move through instinct and subconscious, the Syltharae pause and observe. Remember and connect. To them, the world is not random—it is layered. They know and recognize the details of the sky to hold messages and guides, and it is their duty to communicate that to the body of Velaris.

  PyrelithIgnited Stones

THE SHARPENED EDGE OF VELARIS ✦ The Pyrelith are the protectors of Velaris—not because they are the strongest, but because they have faced themselves without the pack… and chose to return to it. They are trusted with danger. With fear. With the moments where instinct alone is not enough. Pyrelith naturally drift toward the edges of the pack. Not in isolation—but in vigilance. They are often the first to sense danger—and the first to meet it. A true Pyrelith is recognized not by aggression, but by control.

  TherynvalTHE fold

THE BODY AND SPIRIT OF VELARIS ✦ The Therynval are not simply members of Velaris. They are the She. Every hunt, every boundary, every shared warmth in winter—this is their doing. They are the rhythm that keeps the pack alive, the constant between birth and death, between Sky and Root. Without them, the rituals mean nothing, the elders have no weight, and even the stars go unwitnessed. These are wolves who have grown past the chaos of youth, have not (or have not yet) stepped into their Bloodrite, or have chosen not to seek that fire at all.

→ each fold here←

  VaelkinSOFTPAWS

THE HEARTBEAT OF VELARIS ✦ Vaelkin are adolescents—lean, restless, and often unpredictable. This is when the Spark begins to burn stronger, and the peak of their training begins; when or if it is decided that they find their place as something more than a softpaw. They attend the Bloodrite on the precipice of their graduation, and then their future is decided.

  LunarethSTAR WATCHED

SPARKS OF VELARIS ✦ The youth under 1y, born, raised and brought into the heart of Velaris. They are protected, taught and inspired from the day their first breath is taken. She protects, guides and strengthen them even when Her light hides from view. They are not seen as incomplete, but unshaped.

WARRIORS OF VELARIS ✦ Strong and fierce, they favor tooth and claw. They defend the borders of Velaris, protect its people, and meet violence head-on so others may sleep safely beneath the stars and never worry for their well-being. The tales of the Valkyries are deeply revered among them, and many warriors spend their lives attempting to live up to the courage and sacrifice of those ancient women who once stood beside the Star Mother herself.

STAGBOUND, THE HUNTERS OF VELARIS ✦ Adept in hunting and foraging, they provide the members of Velaris with food, ensuring bellies remain full and mouths fed. They work tirelessly to keep stock from running low, even beneath the cruel bite of the harshest winters, all the while honoring the ancient promise between predator and prey.

HEALERS OF VELARIS ✦ They tend to both physical and mental ailments, each healer ranging in skill and specialty. From wounds and illness to grief and hurts of the unseen, they devote themselves to keeping the folds of Velaris healthy in body, mind and spirit. They maintain the gardens, ensuring herbs and remedies never run low.

DENMOTHERS OF VELARIS ✦ They care for pups, tend to new mothers, weave pelts for warmth, and help keep the dens welcoming and well-kept through every season. They preserve stories, soothe fears, and ensure no child grows without guidance, affection, or shelter beneath the stars, keeping children company while parents are away. Though rarely warriors, their importance within Velaris is never forgotten.

ENTERTAINERS OF VELARIS ✦ The keepers of joy, stories, and celebration, they devote themselves to music, dance, storytelling, and the sharing of Velaris' most favored legends. They preserve the history of Velaris through spoken tale and song, ensuring old heroes and truths are never forgotten. Many festivals and gatherings are organized by them, for they believe life should be celebrated as fiercely as it is survived.

SCOUTS OF VELARIS ✦ Those tasked with guarding the mountains, watching the skies, and carrying the secrets of the court. Ever-vigilant and sharp-eyed, they patrol the borders of Velaris like shadow, keeping watch for danger long before it may reach their people. Occasionally, they may travel beyond Velaris carrying messages of alliance, peace, warning, or negotiation, all while quietly collecting knowledge along the paths they prowl.

Legend and lore are crucial within Velaris, woven into their songs, bedtime stories and superstition.

✦ RŌVAJĒDA The great celestial falcon. Among the oldest creatures within Velarion legend is the Rōvajēdar, who is said to carry the winds, storms, and shifting skies upon his very wings. Vast beyond mortal understanding, he is described as a creature painted in the colors of dusk and starlight, with galaxies trapped beneath his feathers and remnants of the moon burning bright within his gaze. Some believe he was born from the Star Mother’s first exhale as an immortal being, when she breathed life into the sleeping skies after the Final battle. Others believe he emerged from the space between constellations on his own accord. He is known as the Bringer of Stormwinds and He Who Carries the Heavens. It is said that every violent storm, every crack of thunder, every wind fierce enough to bend forests low is born from the beat of his wings somewhere high above the world. Velarions do not fear mighty tempests in the same way others might, for all storms alike are believed to mean the Rōvajēdar is passing overhead, watching, listening, and protecting every Velarion. Many travelers pray to him before long journeys, believing the currents of wind answer more kindly to those who speak his name with reverence. Warriors, too, often carve his likeness into den walls, hoping to inherit even a fraction of his fearlessness and impossible sight. To dream of the Rōvajēdar is considered both blessing and warning, one that is never to be ignored. Some Warriors believe that when a Velarian soul becomes too restless for the earth, it is the great falcon who carries them up and toward the Star Mother, and her waiting constellations.

????✦ Velarions believe the spirits of their fallen do not fully leave the world—or them—behind. Instead, those fallen linger in the skies beside the Star Mother, hidden amongst the stars and dark. Though rarely seen, there are nights when the heavens split open with color and light: curtains of shimmering green, blue, violet, and silver spilling across the sky like living rivers. These moments are believed to be the ??? visiting close, their spirits running wild once again.Shooting stars are said to be their pawprints across the night, brief and burning things left behind as they descend to watch over those they once loved. Many Velarions speak softly to the sky during such nights, believing the dead are finally close enough to hear them again, before celebration.Witnesses to such events have even claimed to have glimpsed familiar shapes moving within the lights themselves—entire shapes of wolves of their own pasts made of starlight and memory, chasing one another through the veil mortals cannot reach.

✦ THE VALKYRIES Among the oldest tales whispered beneath the stars are those of the Valkyries. Fearless Velarion women said to have stood at the Star Mother’s side during the Final Battle, when the sky itself threatened to split open and darkness sought to swallow the world whole and all those within it. Said to be made up of warriors, scholars, healers and even poets, they were not known solely for brutality, but for their transcending brilliance. It is said each Valkyrie mastered not only tooth and claw, but mind, spirit, diplomacy, healing, and the art of survival itself. They were considered the Star Mother’s chosen sisters, sworn to protect not only her life, but the light she carried within her. Some legends claim the Star Mother herself was once mortal—one of the first Velarions to walk the earth before ascending into something far greater. Others insist she was never truly mortal at all, but something ancient that merely chose to wear their shape for a time. The Valkyries, regardless of truth, remained beside her until the very end. Stories and legend claim these women crossed battlefields with starlight woven into their pelts, that the skies answered their cries, birds flocked to their sides, and that no darkness could touch them so long as they stood together as one. Their devotion to one another is regarded as sacred within Velaris, and to be witness of one is an honor. To be called a Valkyrie is not simply to be a warrior, but to be steadfast in heart, sharp in mind, and unafraid to stand between cruelty and those too weary to defend themselves. To know one is to know Her.It is believed that upon death, the first Valkyries earned their place within the constellations beside the Star Mother herself. Some Velarions swear that on especially clear nights, one can still see them there, bright as the moon, guarding the skies with silver teeth and watchful eyes, eternal in their ever-lasting vigil.

Most notable Valkyries: Seraphelle the Unbroken, Saevira of the Red Sky, Twyla of Gentle Mercy, Áine of the Fallen

✦ MATING BONDS (Soul ties) It is said that every creature has another half waiting somewhere within the world or universe. Though rare to find, these bonds are considered fated and holy—spiritual things blessed by the Star Mother herself each lifetime the pair is destined to meet again. A soul-tie; a tug that is always present, in some way. It is never easy, and those bound together are often forced through trials of suffering, devotion, distance, or grief. Though love and attraction are common within such unions, they are not always necessary, for a mating bond is believed to transcend mortal wants, needs, and simple desire. These pairs are said to be watched by the stars with each passing night and guided together by threads of fate, spun and stained by the Star Mother’s first mortal blood. Such bonds are only visible to those willing to look closely enough. Any children born from such unions are often considered blessed, visibly marked by star-kissed patterns scattered across their coats like fragments of the night sky itself.See: The Abyss

SŌNADĀRYS, the Great Stag ✦ Among the oldest hunting legends is that of the Great Stag, or the Sōnadārys, a magnificent and powerful creature of pure white said to have first appeared beneath the gaze of the Star Mother herself, bowing and offering himself before her when she and her Valkyries faced starvation during the Final War, becoming the first sacred offering beneath the stars and moon.Velarions believe the very first hunts following the Final Battle were carried out in his honor as a blessed promise between predator and prey, life and death, hunger and survival. Done so as a shared understanding that without respect and restraint for creatures alike, the balance of life itself would shatter, and a reminder that survival itself is sacred. The Great Stag is said to carry blessings within his very blood, wishes upon his breaths, and starlight within his antlers, each branch resembling fragments of the constellations themselves. To glimpse him is considered a sacred gift, as he is often seen appearing before harsh winters, great change, or moments of destiny or changes in fate. Hunters pray to him before long journeys, asking not for just easy kills, but for balance, patience, and mercy. Some tales claim the Great Stag still walks beneath the night sky, appearing only to those the Star Mother believes have lost their way or who suffer beyond measures outside of their control. It is also said that his descendants still walk the earth, painted in coats of pure and fractured white (leucistic, piebald), and that to glimpse one is to be blessed with luck and bountiful hunts for years to come.

Her heart beats in time with the stars that cross the sky. With them she breathes, she sings, and in them, she is everlasting. Her scars are seen as a testimony to the work put forth beneath the weight of her faith. They are beauty to those who look upon her, but beneath them is something ugly and spreading. Aloof and bitter, he vowed long ago never to fall in love no matter the cost. He had seen what mating bonds did to people, watched grief tear his father apart after his mother’s death, and watched Tove’s mother crumble the same way after losing her mate. Love, to him, was not a blessing. It was ruin waiting to happen; a curse from the Star Mother herself. A warrior before all things, cold-eyed and relentless, he earned a reputation as one of the finest fighters Velaris had ever produced. To this day, he remains determined never to let himself become another casualty of love, but fears that one day, despite every oath he has carved into himself, he may not be spared from it either.
He is related to Tove on Maternal side, an elder cousin. Much to his dismay, he is aware of Tove & Tamir's connection even if they are not.Pyrelith; an Ignited Stone

Despite his intimidating appearance, he has that “golden retriever” energy. Playful, approachable, and fiercely protective. One of the few Tamir trusts with everything he holds dear. Though neither remember anything but the brotherly bond between each other, they had fought wars and survived millenia at each other's side. Brothers, not by blood, but by experience. By pain. He knows and recollects the bond Tove and Tamir share, even if they do not.
Unbeknownst to him, he does have a soul-tie, a mating bond to someone he has not found. (Everlasting Flame )

Nestled within the mountain range known as the Moonpeak Spires, deep in the Great Woodlands of Mythris, lies Velaris, a haven for the lost and the dreaming.

—————— ✦ ——————

A seemingly normal mountain which very often casts a large shadow into the ocean’s great bay. Jagged teeth jut outward from the earth, warning those who enter that it is not a place to be traversed lightly - though it still remains a habitable place. Some argue it has the most grand view of all in the region, but it is difficult to see the beauty of the ocean from its peaks when the water is so often engulfed in shadow. So what is its true beauty?

Outsiders may walk the outer reaches and linger within their homeland where beauty and Her starlight still linger, but the true heart of Velaris remains hidden, reached only through passage and trial.
